Quiet and Comfortable Park.
Migratory Bird Festival (mid April), Fishing Rodeo every weekend during Summer months, and crabbing and shrimping across street.
This was the best place I have ever stayed. Small, clean, quite and the nicest owners I have ever meet. I wanted to catch a red fish and Larry not only showed me where to go but personally took me fishing for one. But before sending us off to fish, his wife Michelle cooked us breakfast! It was a wonderful experience while learning about the area, the people and their culture and of course the fishing. If you enjoy fishing, bird watching and a great, quite place to stay give it a try you will love it. (Don't tell anyone, leave Grand Isle as it is! Oh, and save me a spot for next winter.) Great place to stay!!! We stayed the entire Summer and enjoyed every minute. Campground was well maintained and owners were wonderful. Will definitely stay next year.
Great friendly quite place to stay I was amazed at the rate for a month! Stores walking distance or bike ride away. Beach across the street. R V spots have cement slabs at your doorstep. Limestone driveways,no sand! Place to clean your fish in rear of park. Lanny & Michelle (the Owners)were so helpful & friendly to all the guest campers. They live right there on the property, over watch camper sights felt real secure.
We were disappointed at the State Park because they were charging peak season rates even though we could not go down to the beach because of the oil spill. To save money, we decided to use our PA discount and try out Island House. We were delightfully surprised at the friendliness and helpfulness of the owners, Lanny and Michelle. It is a small park, but within easy walking to the beach, bay, and birding trails. Michelle and Lanny could not do enough to provide information that would enrich our stay. What a lovely and unusual place is Grand Isle! And what lovely and unusual people!!!
