Located 20 miles from Marquette. From Escanaba: Follow M-35 toward Gwinn. As you enter Gwinn, you will pass a small park (Peter Nordeen Park). At Flint St. (1st street past park) turn right and follow the road to the end. That will be Iron St. At this point you will see the park. Turn left onto Iron St. and you will pass a gate on your right. Turn right at the gate and you are in the park. From Marquette: Follow M-553 to the intersection of M-553 and Southgate Drive. Turn right onto Southgate Drive. Follow Southgate Drive over the river, this is now Iron Street. Just past the bridge, on your right you will see the gate for the park.
Located near Forsyth Township Historical Society Museum, Peter Nordeen Park, Marquette-Shiras Planetarium, Sugarloaf Mountain, and Preque Isle Park.
This is a very nice small CG. Passport is only good M-Thur, which is fine nice and quiet camping days. Grassy sites, had a garbage can in front of each campsite so no running around or campsites near nasty dumpsters! River for swimming across rod from campsites. Close to town and grocery store, hardware store etc. I live about 3 miles from this CG and always wanted to try it. I recommend it highly. We loved this one full hook up $15!!!
Have stayed there for 2 years and returning for 3rd time this year. Clean facilities and friendly staff. Quiet and conveniently located. Would recommend to anyone with a trailer or RV. They also have an area for tenting but I have never tried it.
