Smugglers’ Roost is a pioneering community which serves as a hub for exploration, creativity and trade, but above all… the passionate celebration of life!
Community BBQ’s with music and viewing through the telescope with noted astronomers. Exhibits by on-site artists and craftspeople. Trade shows featuring arts, crafts and gems / minerals.
Smuggler’s Roost is located in the Middle of Everywhere, surrounded by a wealth of wide-ranging activities and natural amenities which include extraordinary, yet not crowded state and national recreation areas, caves, mines, ghost towns, museums, historic locations, native sites, observatories, local wineries and micro-breweries. Located one mile from the old Animas Highway, a rustic but well-kept thoroughfare that will export you back to the 1800’s, providing 30+ miles of scenic views for mountain biking, ATV’s, running and horse-back riding. We have four affiliated birding sites throughout the region, with distinct habitats, including access to the Rock House just outside Cave Creek Canyon in Portal, AZ.
We stayed at smuggler's roost for a week. the staff especially the on-site manager or absolutely amazing. helped with everything we needed and made sure we were okay. Nice campground with plenty of room for large groups. Good access to day trips and local sites. we definitely will be back.
