70 total RV sites and 22 tent sites, can accommodate RVs up to 40ft, full hookup RV sites, Cable TV, WiFi, restrooms, heated bathhouse with hot showers, sewer, camp store, propane, laundry facilities, fire rings at all sites, picnic tables, pavilion, biking, hiking, rushing stream throughout campground, decks and weather shelters. Rental accommodations available.
Park is open April 1st through November 1st. P.A. discount is valid with a minimum stay of two days and a maximum stay of one week. P.A. discount is not valid on weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) or during June, July, August, and October, and for the holiday periods of Memorial Day and Labor Day. Please call ahead to check availability. Pets welcome. *Rates are for two people, $5.00 for each additional person.
GPS: 35.4159N, -83.100534W From Waynesville, go SW on US 74/23. From Sylva, go NE on US 74/23. Just past mile marker 93 turn at "Balsam" highway directional sign onto Candlestick Rd. Go 50 yards and turn right, go over RR tracks and past Balsam Post Office on the left. Then, go 300 yards to the fork in the road, and stay to the right or straight. The road will turn hard right, cross the RR tracks, and go past the Balsam Mountain Inn on your left. Follow this road, Dark Ridge Road, 1 1/2 miles and campground will be on your left.
Beautiful mountain campground at 3400ft elevation with rushing creek and cool nights. Quiet and secluded back to nature camping. All sites right on the creek with plenty of shade and tree coverings. ARVC 2017 "Park of the Year" Award winner.
Conveniently located 7 miles south of Waynesville and 8 miles north of Sylva, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Jackson County, North Carolina. Close to Cherokee, Maggie Valley and Asheville.
